I was born in the Philippines and raised in Oahu, Hawai’i since age one. In 2007 moved to Chicago to pursue a degree in film and video at Columbia College.
I received my BA in Post-Production and Effects in 2011. After college I worked in the corporate advertising world for two years, until life circumstances led me to work as a freelance artist. My focus is working with independent, fine and new, media artists, non-profits, and faith based initiatives. I was drawn into Causegear after leaning about the mission because I believe that every maker should be valued fairly for their craft. As an independent worker myself, taking up this attitude helps shape sociality towards a better quality of life. I find it life giving in the spiritual, mental, and creative sense when working with people who want to impact the lives of others.
Within the last 8 years I’ve had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, explore a multitude of perspectives, and find my faith in Jesus Christ. My community challenges me to live out intentionally and invest in deep relationships while making new ones along the way. I get excited when I can use my skills whether in filmmaking or design to help others with their life goals.
Among the little things in life, I enjoy being outdoors, drinking full-bodied coffees, and making photographs. When traveling, whether overseas or simply to and from the cinema, I can observe life as it unfolds around me. It allows me to constantly learn about others, as well as myself. I do these things mainly alongside the love of my life. www.desireeanne.com
